Your Excellencies President Tinubu, Leaders of Nigeria’s Opposition Parties and Independent Political Movements, 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern over the recent public discussion surrounding the proposal that so‑called repentant terrorists should swear an oath on the Qur'an before reintegration into society. This approach does not address the root causes of terrorism, nor does it honor the memory and suffering of the countless Nigerians who have been killed, displaced, or traumatized since 1999.
Nigeria has endured decades of violence at the hands of boko haram and other extremist groups—organizations responsible for severe harm, loss of life, and human rights violations. Any policy response must prioritize justice, accountability, and the rights of 240 million Nigerians above all else.
It is unacceptable that, while 240 million of Nigerians continue to live without security, electricity, jobs, or basic social services, national attention is being diverted toward reintegration programs that lack transparency and do not center Nigerians. If swearing on the Qur'an or the Bible were an effective deterrent, our political class—who take these oaths during inaugurations—would not continue to engage in corruption, mismanagement, and the misuse of public funds for decades
The government must:
Prioritize justice for 240 million Nigerians of terrorism, including compensation, free housing, education, and healthcare for affected families.
Ensure that any individuals who participated in terrorism face full legal accountability, not symbolic rituals.
Reform the courts, police, military, DSS, EFCC, and other institutions to address the systemic failures that allowed extremist groups to grow for decades
Invest heavily in agriculture, job creation, and infrastructure, so that 240 million Nigerians can live with dignity.
Address the long‑standing issues of power supply, unemployment, and inequality, which continue to fuel frustration and instability.
The Nigerian people are exhausted by decades of unfulfilled promises, corruption, and policies that do not reflect their needs. Leaders—whether in government, opposition, or independent movements—must demonstrate seriousness, integrity, and a commitment to real reform.
The world is watching Nigeria. The global world is watching even more closely.
It is time to prioritize justice, accountability, and the well‑being of all 240 million Nigerians. Kindly stop with the lies/ slogans and fake decades of promises this is a humble request.
