Respectfully systems don’t change themselves — people change systems. And when the system is built to keep young people out, it takes unity, pressure, and long‑term organizing to break in.

Why young Nigerians are not in politics today these are the structural barriers — not excuses — that keep youth out.

Financial barriers — Running for office in Nigeria is extremely expensive. Party nomination forms alone can cost millions of naira. This automatically filters out most young Nigerian. This must change for young Nigerians make it free where are the politicians getting the money from?

Godfather politics — Many political structures are controlled by older power brokers who only support candidates they can influence.

Weak internal democracy — Party primaries are often manipulated, making it hard for new voices to emerge.

Youth disillusionment — Decades of disappointment make many young Nigerians feel politics is dirty or pointless.

Economic hardship — When 240 million Nigerians are struggling to survive, political participation becomes a luxury.

Vote‑buying culture — As we know for decades, selling votes for rice, beans, or cash keeps the same leaders in power and blocks change.
