Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr Goodluck Jonathan. Mr. Peter Obi, Opposition parties, independent candidates 240 million Nigerians are writing to express deep concern about several national issues that urgently require attention, particularly as political leaders and potential candidates prepare for the 2027 elections.

At a time when insecurity, unemployment, and educational inequality continue to affect millions of Nigerians, it is discouraging to see so much focus placed on political interviews and early campaign positioning instead of addressing the root causes of our challenges. boko haram remains a threat, and job creation is still far from adequate. These issues demand immediate, practical solutions rather than promises about what will be done in the future.

One major concern is the recent decision by the NUC to discontinue the HND top‑up to BSc pathway. This raises serious questions about the future of 240 million youths of Nigerians who already hold HND or NCE qualifications. Many HND holders already face discrimination in the job market, including being excluded from graduate trainee programs and being limited to outsourced roles. This inequality has persisted for too long for decades must change now 5/11/2026 this is a humble request

If the HND is discontinued without addressing the discrimination that exists today, the policy becomes unfair and harmful. HND holders undergo rigorous practical training and should not be treated as inferior to BSc holders. The system should not be changed in ways that benefit only the elite or those with easier access to university education.

Instead of discontinuing the HND, the government should focus on:

Providing free and quality education across all 36 states and 774 LGAs

Strengthening technical and vocational education

Abolishing unnecessary barriers such as JAMB and NYSC if they no longer serve their purpose

Creating real job opportunities rather than relying on online applications and interviews that lead nowhere. All that is required is valid Nigerian ID /valid Nigerian passport

These are the priorities that will truly improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians. Policies should be designed to uplift the vulnerable, not sideline them.

We urge the Federal Government, NUC, and all political leaders to reconsider the direction of these reforms and to focus on fairness, inclusiveness, and practical solutions that benefit all Nigerians.
