Am I wrong for asking my elder brother to stop calling my baby daughter “my wife”?
For context, we are biological brothers, the same parents. We never really got along growing up, but as adults we try to keep things civil.
I recently had a baby girl, and he has a son. Anytime he asks about my daughter, he says things like: “How’s my wife?” “Greet my wife for me.”
One day I told him calmly: “Please stop calling my daughter your wife. She’s your niece. Just call her your niece or your daughter.”
To me, it sounds awkward and uncomfortable. I wasn’t accusing him of anything bad, I just personally don’t like it.
But he got very angry and started insulting me. He said social media has damaged my thinking and even brought up my divorce during the argument.
Now I’m wondering: Was I wrong for setting that boundary as her father, or did he overreact?
