Nigeria has over 80 million unemployed youths according to the most recent 2025 report, and the total youth population is roughly 140–150 million, depending on the age bracket used. Graduates specifically number about 1.7 million new graduates per year, entering a job market that cannot absorb them.

Current Number of Jobless Nigerian Youths
The State of the Nigerian Youth Report 2025 states that over 80 million Nigerian youths are unemployed.

The report also notes that youth unemployment stands at 53%, making it the most severe threat to Nigeria’s future.

Official NBS figures show much lower unemployment (6.5% for ages 15–24 in 2024), but this is due to a controversial methodology change. Older methods showed 53.4% unemployment for ages 15–24 and 37.2% for ages 25–34.
