Nigerian executive producer Ruth Ojougboh is set to unveil the feature-length animated film ORAYA at the Marché du Film as part of the "Focus on Africa Conference" during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
The presentation will take place on May 13, 2026, in Cannes, France.
Set in a futuristic interpretation of Ghana, ORAYA is a 90-minute 2.5D animated feature that blends African mythology, sci-fi worldbuilding, and action-driven storytelling. The narrative follows a fractured alliance of pan-African heroes who must unite to stop a secret syndicate exploiting Earth’s last remaining sacred energy source.
“This is not just a film, it is African-owned IP designed to grow beyond a single release,” Ojougboh said.
Founder and Creative Director, Francis Yushau Brown, added: “We are building original African stories with the structure and ambition to compete globally.”
