Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Peter Obi, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and respected leaders of opposition parties and independent movements, 240 million Nigerians are writing to urge a unified, non‑partisan effort to confront one of Nigeria’s most urgent national challenges: the unresolved $3.5bn refinery expenditure and the continued stagnation of our refining capacity.

The recent public call stating that NNPCL must account for $3.5bn wasted refinery funds before any restart jamboree reflects a growing national demand for transparency. These funds must be fully accounted for, recovered where misused, and all individuals involved in any wrongdoing must face justice. Recovered assets should be redirected toward rebuilding the refineries properly and sustainably.

Nigeria cannot afford another cycle of failed promises. Before any new refinery project begins, the nation deserves clarity, accountability, and restitution.

Beyond accountability, this moment presents an opportunity for true national collaboration. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, President Tinubu, Mr. Peter Obi, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, opposition parties, and independent candidates all command significant resources—resources often spent on political campaigns. Redirecting even a portion of these funds toward rebuilding Nigeria’s refineries would demonstrate genuine commitment to 240 million Nigerians and create meaningful impact.

A restructured refinery project should:

Employ up to 240 million Nigerian youths and graduates across phases in the 36 states 774 LGA, ensuring that jobs and economic benefits remain within Nigeria.

Be awarded to a Nigerian‑owned company to guarantee national ownership and transparency.

Require any foreign technical partners, including those from China, to work jointly with Nigerian firms and hire Nigerian talents only and foreign companies must train Nigerians to take over the project once training is completed

Mandate full transparency with daily public reporting on platforms such as LekeeLekee daily

Nigeria has the talent, the population, and the will. What we need now is unified leadership that prioritizes national progress over political rivalry.

If our leaders truly care about Nigerian lives, this is the moment to work together and rebuild the refineries in a way that creates 240 million jobs, restores trust, and strengthens our economy.
