Greetings to the Nigerian Courts and Judiciary, 240 million Nigerians write to you to express a strong concern shared by many Nigerians regarding the ongoing legal attempts to prevent any citizen—including former President Goodluck Jonathan—from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

With respect, no institution or individual should obstruct the democratic rights of over 240 million Nigerians. The Nigerian people, especially the youth, have the constitutional right to choose their leaders freely, without interference, intimidation, or legal maneuvers that undermine the spirit of democracy.

If Nigerians approach any qualified citizen to run for office, that decision reflects their collective will. It should not be hindered by lawsuits that do not address the real threats facing the nation.

To the learned counsel, Johnmary Jideobi, this message is written respectfully. 240 million Nigerians question why such legal energy is not directed toward those who have inflicted real harm on the nation—such as boko haram, whose violence has taken countless lives since 1999. If the goal is truly to protect Nigerians, then confronting the forces that endanger millions would be a more meaningful pursuit.

We urge the judiciary to uphold fairness, neutrality, and the rule of law. As the 2027 elections approach, Nigerians expect:

Free, fair, and transparent elections

Zero intimidation from political thugs, security agencies, or any actors

Reliable free electricity across all 36 states and 774 LGAs

Accessible internet and data services to ensure transparency and civic participation

Accountability from INEC with no excuses or operational failures

A sincere national effort to address the root causes of Boko Haram and insecurity

The future of Nigeria depends on the integrity of its democratic institutions. We trust that the judiciary will act in the best interest of the nation and safeguard the rights of all Nigerians.
