Obidient Movement Rejects Faction Claiming to Sack Peter Obi

The Peter Obi-aligned Obidient Movement has rejected claims by a rival faction that it expelled Peter Obi and Yunusa Tanko, insisting it recognises no parallel leadership structure. The faction had announced a rebrand from “Obidient” to “Obedient” and accused Obi’s camp of hijacking the movement for personal gain.

The group’s new coordinator, Dr Barry Avotu Johnson, claims he founded the movement before it later adopted Obi for the 2023 election. Meanwhile, Obi was seen at Lagos airport helping settle a dispute between two motorists after returning from Anambra, where he donated ₦25 million to the University on the Niger.
