THE FAITHFUL LAMB OF THE GREAT SHEPHERD

Text: John 10:11 — “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

In a world filled with confusion, temptation, fear, false teachings, and spiritual battles, God is still searching for faithful lambs who will remain under the leadership of the Great Shepherd. Jesus Christ is not only our Savior; He is the Shepherd who guides, protects, feeds, corrects, and preserves His flock. Every believer is called to live as a faithful lamb in His fold.
Today many people want the blessings of the Shepherd, but they do not want to follow His voice. Some desire protection without obedience, miracles without holiness, and crowns without sacrifice. Yet Scripture teaches us that the true lamb of God remains faithful to the Shepherd even in difficult seasons.
The faithfulness of a lamb is not shown only in peaceful moments, but in times of pressure, temptation, loneliness, persecution, and worldly distractions.

1. THE GREAT SHEPHERD KNOWS HIS LAMBS

John 10:14 — “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”

One of the greatest comforts of Christianity is knowing that God truly knows His people personally. The Shepherd knows your struggles, your tears, your hidden battles, and your future.
In today’s society, many people feel abandoned and unnoticed. Social media has created a generation seeking validation from strangers while feeling empty within. People chase followers online but do not know the Shepherd personally.
A faithful lamb understands that identity is not found in popularity, wealth, fashion, or human approval. Identity is found in Christ.
Biblical Example: David
David was a shepherd boy forgotten by men but remembered by God. While others saw a small boy, God saw a king (1 Samuel 16:11-13). Faithful lambs may be ignored by society, but heaven recognizes them.

2. THE FAITHFUL LAMB HEARS THE SHEPHERD’S VOICE

John 10:27 — “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

A sheep survives by recognizing the shepherd’s voice. Spiritually, believers survive by listening to God through His Word, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Today there are many voices competing for attention:
• Voices of immorality
• Voices of greed
• Voices of false prophets
• Voices of depression and hopelessness
• Voices promoting worldly pleasures above godliness
Many believers are spiritually confused because they spend more time consuming worldly influences than hearing God’s Word.
Present-Day Occurrence
Many young people today are influenced by internet culture, celebrity lifestyles, and dangerous ideologies. Some now believe holiness is outdated and sin is normal. But the faithful lamb refuses to follow the crowd when the crowd is walking away from God.
Romans 12:2 tells us:
“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

A faithful lamb must learn spiritual discernment.

3. THE GREAT SHEPHERD PROTECTS HIS SHEEP
Psalm 23:4 — “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”

The Christian life does not mean the absence of battles. Sheep face wolves, storms, and dangerous paths, but the Shepherd remains present.
In today’s world:
• Many battle addiction
• Some battle fear and anxiety
• Families face economic hardship
• Christians face persecution and mockery
• Many youths are trapped in internet fraud, cultism, and destructive lifestyles

The enemy seeks to destroy souls through deception.
1 Peter 5:8 says:
“Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
But faithful lambs stay close to the Shepherd because distance from God creates vulnerability.
Biblical Example: Peter
Peter almost sank when he removed his eyes from Jesus (Matthew 14:30). Many believers today sink spiritually because they focus more on fear and worldly pressures than on Christ.

4. A FAITHFUL LAMB REMAINS OBEDIENT
Isaiah 1:19 — “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
Sheep naturally follow the shepherd. Likewise, believers must obey God even when obedience is uncomfortable.
Obedience today may mean:
• Refusing corruption
• Staying sexually pure
• Rejecting dishonest money
• Forgiving enemies
• Speaking truth in a dishonest society
• Remaining prayerful despite distractions
Present-Day Reality
Many people compromise because of economic hardship. Some engage in fraud, ritual practices, exploitation, or immoral lifestyles in search of quick success. Society now celebrates wealth without questioning the source.
But the faithful lamb chooses righteousness over temporary gain.
Biblical Example: Joseph
Joseph refused sexual sin despite pressure from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:7-12). Though obedience brought temporary suffering, God later elevated him.
Faithfulness may cost something now, but it always brings divine reward
