Your Excellencies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Peter Obi, leaders of opposition parties, and all independent political actors, 240 million Nigerians are writing to you out of deep concern for the health and future of our nation. The recent loss of children in Sokoto due to cerebrospinal meningitis is a painful reminder that Nigeria cannot continue with a healthcare system that fails its people. We cannot allow this to become another tragedy that fades away like COVID-19 did, without meaningful structural reform.

Nigeria’s 240 million citizens deserve a healthcare system that is free, accessible, and functional in all 36 states and 774 Local Government Areas. This is not a luxury. It is a necessity for national security, economic growth, and social stability.

We urge all political leaders—regardless of party, ideology, or ambition—to work together immediately on the following priorities:

Make healthcare free and accessible in every 36 states and 774 LGA.

Build new, fully equipped hospitals with free 24/7 electricity, clean water, and free internet access.

Pay doctors, nurses, and all health workers competitive salaries that reflect their importance.

Abolish the NYSC requirement so graduates can begin working immediately, especially in critical sectors like healthcare.

Remove unnecessary barriers such as police reports before treatment.

Address the root causes of insecurity, including boko haram, by ensuring communities have access to healthcare and economic opportunity.

Nigeria has the resources. The same energy and funding used for campaigns, rallies, and photo opportunities can be redirected toward saving lives and building a healthier nation. If any political leader is not committed to fixing the root causes of our national challenges—starting with healthcare—then they should step aside for those who are ready to work.

This is not about slogans or party loyalty. It is about survival, dignity, and the future of our children.

The time to act is now.
