In CBN v. Ochife, Nigeria's Supreme Court ruled that judgment creditors must provide specific, concrete proof of account numbers, names, and verifiable funds before a garnishee order can be made absolute. Speculative "hit or miss" proceedings against multiple banks without specific account details are insufficient. While the decision is legally sound, Banwo& Ighodalo's analysis exposes a fundamental paradox: the Court has raised the evidential bar without providing a ladder.
