Nigeria’s Financial Market Offerings this Week from May 6, 2026
The week of 6 May 2026 opens with an active primary market pipeline of N907.55bn across sovereign, corporate, and equity instruments, set against system liquidity of N6.61trn as of 5 May. The week's offering set is fully integrated across the curve and across asset classes.
Today's CBN Primary Market Auction is the sovereign anchor, offering N700bn against N556.02bn in maturing obligations and implying net borrowing of approximately N143.98bn. The composition matters more than the headline. The 364-day tenor carries N550bn, or 78.6% of the auction, signalling a deliberate extension of the sovereign's funding maturity profile. Indicative stop rates at the last auction held at 15.95%, 16.19%, and 16.199% across the curve. Today's clearing rates will set the yield reference against which the rest of this week's pipeline is priced.
The corporate pipeline runs to N62bn in active commercial paper across two issuers, Veritasi Homes' N12bn Series 2 CP at 23.50% closing today and Project Mint Non-Interest SPV's N50bn Ijarah-Wakalah CP at 21.5% to 23.50%, alongside Valency SPV's N15bn five-year agribusiness bond. The May 2026 FGN Savings Bond, open until 8 May at 13.525% to 14.525%, anchors the retail end with quarterly income, full tax exemption, and NGX listing. The NAICOM recapitalisation pipeline continues to deepen, with Lasaco Assurance's N18.47bn rights issue in open subscription, five further insurance issuers in announced status, and two private placements pending SEC approval.
The reading for the week is straightforward. Sovereign duration extension at the 364-day tenor sets the credit spread arithmetic for the corporate pipeline, while the insurance recapitalisation programme sustains a structural and progressively intensifying claim on equity capital through the second quarter of 2026.
