Senate Erupts Over Xenophobia in South Africa
Nigeria’s Senate clashed over how to respond to rising xenophobic tensions in South Africa, with proposals ranging from nationalising South African businesses to stronger retaliatory measures.
The Federal Government says Nigerians willing to return home will fund their own travel, with about 130 already registered, also within South Africa, the issue remains deeply divisive. Opposition leader Julius Malema questioned whether the attacks have actually created jobs for citizens.
