When did Akpabio start politics?
He entered public service in 2002 as a commissioner in Akwa Ibom State:

Commissioner for Petroleum & Natural Resources (2002–2003)

Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs (2004–2005)

Commissioner for Lands & Housing (2005–2006)

He became Governor in 2007, then Senator in 2015, Minister in 2019, and Senate President in 2023.

So he has been in politics for about 24 years.
