Respectfully to the Lagos states Governor, 240 million Nigerians in the 36 states 774 LGA are writing in response to the recent gas explosion on Adeleye Street in the Sari Iganmu area of Lagos, where a shop attendant was hospitalized after a cylinder exploded during refilling. The Lagos state fire and rescue service has already confirmed the incident, and like many Nigerians, we are deeply concerned about both the victim’s wellbeing and the broader safety issues this highlights.

Incidents like this continue to expose the gaps in public safety, regulation, and emergency response. They also remind us how urgently Nigerians need guaranteed access to immediate free medical care without delays, police reports, or upfront payments. No Nigerian should be left vulnerable in moments of crisis.

We respectfully urge your office to:

Ensure the Nigerians receives full free medical attention and support.

Strengthen enforcement of safety standards for gas refilling shops and similar high‑risk businesses.

Expand public awareness campaigns on safe handling of gas cylinders and related equipment.

Guarantee free and immediate emergency healthcare for all Lagos residents, without administrative barriers.

Work with local governments and relevant agencies to prevent similar incidents across the state.

Nigerians simply want to feel safe in their homes, workplaces, and communities. Addressing the root causes of these avoidable accidents will save lives and restore public confidence.
