Gas shortages — most power plants run on gas, but supply has been inconsistent because producers prefer exporting where prices are higher.

Aging infrastructure — transmission lines and transformers break down frequently, causing nationwide blackouts.

Debts in the power sector — power companies owe gas suppliers; gas suppliers owe banks; the cycle keeps collapsing generation.

Tariff issues — for years, electricity tariffs didn’t match the real cost of generating power, so companies couldn’t invest in improvements.

Vandalism and theft — pipelines and power equipment are frequently damaged, disrupting supply.
