A child doesn't end up on the street in one day. Not at all. The street has a subtle way of enticing.

‎From sleeping in passageways, to spending nights outside the house for fear of being beaten, to running off to a friend’s place in search of safety, these experiences then graduate to the child staying away for two days, and you're left with the hope that s/he will be brought back by the same family friend he kept running to. By the time you realize what's going on, he has migrated to the streets in a bigger town, with the help of other children towing that path.

‎Now, you see how streetism gradually lures a child with the consent of the very parents who never believe they had any involvement in the child's migration to the street. However, with the right information, timely guidance, and intentional parenting, both you and your child can be protected from this path and guided toward safer, more stable futures.

‎That's why I have written the book, Through the Eyes of A Street Child. It is a book that not only enlightens you on who a child is, the concept of childhood in Nigeria, the plight of every child in that street, but also explains how addictive life on the street can be and the way forward.
