Multiple news reports show that Senate President Godswill Akpabio did say that Nigeria’s insecurity and killings would stop shortly after the 2027 general elections.

Across several outlets, his statement was consistent:
He claimed that the rise in killings and insecurity is politically motivated ahead of the 2027 elections and that “two weeks after the election, insecurity will stop. With all due respect sir that`s leaders who lack empathy for Nigerian life`s and have no good intentions for 240 million Nigerians in 2026 why would 2027 be any better sir ?
