The difference between an everyday thief and an armed robber is the possession and use or threat to use a weapon; and a mere kitchen knife can constitute a weapon in this context.

Yet everyday policemen armed with assault rifles openly arrest/abduct innocent but hapless citizens and intimidate them to part with humongous cash get away with mere transfer or worst case, a dismissal.

Does the police high command's neglect to prosecute those caught for armed robbery not embolden others?
