Yes, Nigeria can use another Nigerian company instead of Dangote in 2026 — but only if certain conditions are met. The issue has never been about a lack of Nigerian companies it’s about the environment they must operate in.

Why another Nigerian company could build or run a refinery
Nigeria has many capable engineering, oil, and construction firms. In theory, companies like:

BUA Group

Oando

Seplat

Aradel Holdings (formerly Niger Delta Exploration & Production)

Nestoil / Obijackson Group

Aiteo

could build or operate refineries.

Some already run modular refineries, but these are small 5,000–30,000 barrels/day compared to Dangote’s 650,000 barrels/day.
