Why Nigerian youths are not in school Lagos has free and compulsory primary education, but some children still remain out of school due to poverty, child labor, lack of documentation, and social challenges. The state launched project zero to identify and re‑enroll out‑of‑school children, especially those affected by economic hardship.
Nationally, out‑of‑school rates are influenced by deeper issues like economic barriers, early marriage, conflict, and inadequate school infrastructure, which also affect Lagos.
