Why does the Nigerian government keep borrowing loans?
Because the system is built on borrowing to survive, not earning to grow.

Low revenue:
Nigeria collects very little in taxes compared to its population and economy size.

High spending needs:
Security, subsidies (fuel in the past), salaries, and infrastructure all cost huge money.

Result:
Government fills the gap with loans—from World Bank, AfDB, China, Eurobonds, etc.

The problem is: if loans don’t create real productivity and jobs, they just become chains.

All this money can give free light 24/7, free Wi‑Fi, and jobs—where is the money, who has it?
Nigeria’s total borrowed and earned money over the years could have transformed the country.

Where the money tends to go:

Debt servicing:
A massive chunk of the budget now goes to paying interest and principal on old loans.

Subsidies and recurrent spending:
For years, fuel subsidies swallowed trillions with very little lasting impact.

Corruption and waste:
Inflated contracts, ghost projects, padded budgets, kickbacks.

Elite capture:
A small political and business class benefits from contracts, forex games, and access to state resources.

So instead of:

Building reliable power

Rolling out nationwide fibre and Wi‑Fi

Funding mass industrial and agricultural jobs

the money is often consumed, stolen, or used to service old mistakes.

So what now—are we just stuck? Nigerians want to move forward for the future of our children in 2026 we cannot wait till 2027

We have oil, gas, land, talents graduates, brains—so why are we Nigerians poor?

Why are we in darkness when we export energy?

Why are we borrowing when we should be lending?

Real change needs things like:

Radical transparency:
Project-level audits, open budgets, and public dashboards showing where every naira goes.

Stronger institutions, not strong men:
Courts, anti-corruption bodies, regulators that actually work.

Shift from consumption to production:
Support for manufacturing, agro-processing, tech, and SMEs that create jobs in all 36 states 774 LGAs.

Respectfully to Nigerians don’t forget people who track promises, follow the money, and refuse to be distracted every election cycle. This is a humble request
