People often act in their own interest because survival shapes human behavior. That truth does not excuse one-sided relationships. Not everyone who withholds effort is wounded or waiting for more love to open up. Some people are simply choosing not to show up.

Stop overextending yourself in the hope that more care will change them. Pay attention to what they consistently give, not what they promise. If the effort is not mutual, step back. Protect your energy and invest in connections where respect and reciprocity are clear.
