Fanny J. Crosby the prolific poet, songwriter and public speaker wrote over 9000 hymns.
She became blind at 2 months old when a quack physician treated her for eye infection.
By age 15 her mother had already helped her to memorize the 4 gospels, Genesis to Deuteronomy, Proverbs, Song of Solomon and many Psalms.
Among her popular hymns are:
Blessed Assurance;
To God be The Glory;
Pass me not O gentle Saviour.
Was married but their only child died at infancy.
Born 1820, she died 1915.
