Power distorts a person’s sense of reality when someone holds absolute or near‑absolute power:
People around them stop giving honest feedback
Advisors become afraid to deliver bad news
Criticism is punished
Praise is exaggerated
Over time, the leader can start believing they are invincible or destined to rule indefinitely. Psychologists call this hubris syndrome.
