At best, it can coexist with the current system and push for improvements. At worst, it can expose the weaknesses of the grid even more.

Electric vehicles EVs e‑bikes, and e‑tricycles are growing in Nigeria because:

They are cheaper to run than petrol vehicles

They can be charged with solar, bypassing the unreliable grid

Fleet operators can build private charging hubs

Fuel prices have risen sharply, making EVs attractive
