Nigeria's public debt rose sharply from ₦97.34 trillion ($108.23 billion) at the end of 2023 to a staggering ₦159.28 trillion ($110.97 billion) by December 2025.
How can a country carrying such a heavy debt load, mostly borrowed without much to show for it, be seen as moving forward? It raises a real question about progress and what it truly means for a nation to grow.
