Nigeria has over 70 million hectares of cultivated land and a huge farming population, but productivity is far below what’s possible.

If yields, processing, and exports were scaled up—and insecurity reduced—agriculture could rival or even surpass oil in total value generated GDP, jobs, and diversified exports even if not in quick cash like crude.
