Fuel was about ₦198–₦200 per litre in Nigeria before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.

What changed immediately after?
Right after Tinubu announced “subsidy is gone” in his inauguration speech, the pump price jumped from ₦198 → about ₦540 at NNPC stations.

Within weeks, it rose again to ₦617 per litre.
