Mentorship can be compared to a skilled corn grower who wins awards by mastering his craft. Despite the likely threat of competition, he shares his techniques with his neighbours because their success directly affects his own: if neighbours grow low-quality corn, cross-pollination may reduce his yields. When you help others grow quality corn, everyone’s crops improve. In the same way, mentorship involves sharing wisdom and skills, raising collective achievement.
