Why most states don’t have free light
Electricity is not controlled by states
Even though the law now allows states to generate and distribute power, most states still depend on the national grid, which is unreliable and expensive.
To offer free electricity, a state would need:

its own power plants

its own distribution network

huge subsidies

Only a few states like Lagos, Rivers, Edo have even started building independent power projects. Kudos to these governors for doing the needful
