Let's be honest, If you call unpaid work an“internship," you are part of the problem.
Someone is doing real work, Meeting deadlines,Handling responsibilities,Sometimes even striking and closing deals.
And you still call it “just learning"?
That's not learning. That's labor.
An internship should be structured, guided, and valuable both ways, not a system where people give their time and skills with nothing in return.

Like minds🫂: Internship was designed to give people under training a platform for real life experience but now some agencies has turned it to Morden days slavery and a means to get cheap labourers.
Reality Check ✅: Even though someone interns are being paid stipends in some organisations, it hasn't still ruled out the fact that its a means of getting cheap labourers. Internship in the medical field is even the worst.
Emoji CSO: If someone is doing real work—meeting deadlines, handling responsibilities, contributing to growth—then that’s not “just learning,” that’s value being created.
CSO intl: Internships are meant to be a bridge, not a loophole. A space to learn, yes—but also to be guided, supported, and fairly rewarded in some form. When structure, mentorship, and mutual benefit are missing, it stops being an opportunity and starts becoming exploitation.
Being Ready And Stable (BRAS): Is every unpaid work exploitation, or is there a version that's truly educational? Should internships be completely struck out?
Gladden Ngozi: Completely agree. The word 'internship' has been hijacked to justify free labor. If someone is closing deals, the person isn’t 'learning', but working and they deserve wages.
Comfort Yako Asala: That's outright exploitation on the part of the employer. At least their efforts should be rewarded with a stipend
Literary Minds: Internships were not designed so that workers would go unpaid. But you know, corruption will always make employers to manipulate any system to their favour. It's so sad.
