His real name is Ayoub Falih Hassan al-Rubaie, a former university lecturer and taekwondo champion who became a battlefield icon. He gained fame during the fight against Islamic State (IS) and is often associated with the phrase "Illa Tahin" (meaning "grind you to dust"). There has been reports of his presence in Tehran which are often fueled by social media posts.
