Should land buyers be compensated if the government or its officials illegally sold the land?
Yes — in principle, they should be compensated.
If a Nigerian bought land in good faith, paid all required fees, and received documents issued by government agencies, then the government bears responsibility for the fraud committed by its own officials.
This is a basic principle of public administration:
If the state creates the problem, the state must fix it.
But the reality is more complicated.
