Discipline is brutal because it requires you to live a "hidden" life for a while. You’re essentially betting on a version of yourself that doesn't exist yet, at the expense of the person you are today.

But as the saying goes: "Choose your hard." Is it harder to say "no" to a luxury today, or harder to be 60 years old and still forced to trade your time for a meal? One is a temporary sting; the other is a permanent weight.
