Why Nigerians struggle to trust the judiciary
Based on the evidence, the trust problem comes from systemic issues, not the law itself:
Inconsistent enforcement
Some high‑profile forgery cases drag on or end without consequences.
This creates a perception of selective justice.
High burden of proof
Beyond reasonable doubt is a very high standard.
When cases fail, the public sees it as the judiciary protecting elites.
Slow justice system
Delays weaken confidence in outcomes.
