Italy is out of the 2026 World Cup! The Azzurri lost on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina, after leading 1-0 with a goal from Moise Kean, but then conceded a 79th-minute equalizer from Haris Tabakovic. The match ended 1-1, and Bosnia won 4-1 on penalties.

The defeat was a blow for Italy, who had not appeared at the World Cup since 2014 and had not advanced beyond the group stage since 2006. This is the third consecutive time that Italy has failed to qualify for the World Cup
