World Meteorological Day 2026
March 23 was World Meteorological Day (WMD). It was on this day in 1950 that the UN Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) came into force. WMD is observed every year to highlight the importance of the role that people and their behaviour play in protecting the Earth's atmosphere and to recognize how weather and climate science, things we take for granted, touch our daily lives.
