A Grounded Perspective
When leadership feels like a "favor" rather than a "duty," the concept of accountability becomes a foreign language. In any other sector—like the ones you manage—a failure to protect "lives and livelihoods" would result in an immediate termination of contract. In the political sphere, it seems the "performance bond" is paid in the currency of our collective silence.
