Development that pushes people out is not development

Things will never get cheap when every so-called upgrade ends in exclusion.
Rent rises, land changes hands, local traders disappear, and suddenly the place is called developed.
Developed for who?

But if growth means ordinary people must leave so wealthier people can arrive, that is not progress.

That is displacement with better lighting.
A country must ask who can still remain after development shows up
