Historical wounds between Africa and the diaspora
This part is sensitive, but it’s real.

Many Black Americans know that:

Some African kingdoms and elites participated in the transatlantic slave trade.

Some profited from selling captives to European traders.

So when an African president calls for reparations, some Black Americans feel:

“Why ask the West only? Why not acknowledge Africa’s role too?”

“Don’t act like this was only Europe’s doing.”
