A feeling of being blamed for something they suffered from
Some Black Americans hear African leaders calling for reparations and interpret it as:
“America owes Africa because of slavery”
“The diaspora should reconnect with Africa”
“Africa wants compensation for what happened to Africans who were taken”
But many Black Americans feel they are the ones who endured centuries of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, and ongoing discrimination in the United States.
