August Media will finance up to a third of the production costs of the anime-inspired 'Malika: Warrior Queen’ film, which reimagines 15th century West Africa through the rhythm of Afrobeats.

The film is an adaptation of the eponymous graphic novel created by Nigerian author and director Roye Okupe, who also created the hit animated superhero series “#Iyanu.” It'll tell the story of #Malika, a brilliant queen and military commander struggling to maintain peace in her rapidly expanding empire.
