Light enters your eyes through the eye lens. For the lens to let in light it has to be pure, transparent: optically holy. To make this happen the lens cell gives up many of it organs and its blood vessel, yet the lense is a living tissue, it needs tnose stuff& blood to feed and live well. After sacrificing so much it has to rely on glycolosis for energy( like on crumbs of bread)-the poorest form of energy supply. So the lens half-starve to give you vision.
