Africans and people of African descent around the world have taken careful note of the countries that voted against this UN resolution. History has a long memory, and such positions will not be easily forgotten. While the resolution is non-binding, the vote itself sends a clear message about where different nations stand on acknowledging past atrocities and their lasting impacts.
