The recent visit by Nigeria’s Minister of Labour and Employment to the industrial hub of Ogijo in Ogun State, which led to the sealing of several factories over poor
safety measures and a blatant disregard for workers’ health and wellbeing, brings a lot to mind.
It reminds me of interviews where both foreign and Nigerian entrepreneurs proudly boast about the number of jobs they have created. But in reality, many of these jobs resemble exploitative environments.
