Under the Old Covenant, a sinner laid hands on a lamb—his sin transferred, the lamb died in his place, and he walked away free.
That was substitution.
Under the New Covenant, God gave Jesus as the ultimate Substitute.
He took your sin.
You receive His righteousness.
Your sin? Gone.
Your guilt? Erased.
Your debt? Paid in blood.
“God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin… He is just and declares sinners righteous when they believe in Him.” (Romans 3:25–26)
This is justification
