Abia negotiated with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to take over distribution assets.

The Abia State Electricity Regulation Authority now oversees generation, transmission, and distribution locally.

This means the state is no longer under the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
