In order to commemorate the International Day of Happiness, we highlight the top happiest countries globally and in Africa.

The World Happiness Report shows that Finland is the happiest country in 2025 with an average life evaluation score of 7.764 in the last three years (2022-2024), the highest among over 140 countries. Iceland and Denmark are 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In Africa, Mauritius is the happiest followed by Libya and Algeria.

Nigeria ranks 106th globally and 11th in Africa
